New Finds!

Hello My Color Elated Friends!

So I am trying this new fiscally  conservative policy for my makeup purchases.  Stop the impulse buying because chances are I already have that color in another brand, target in on what I need  (If I run out of something, that is a fair purchase with no guilt attached!), and, to be fair to my Color Elated side, limit myself to a few new high end pieces that I must use as the crux of my new seasonal look. Lastly, continue to use the things I have and love for as long as The Board of Health will allow.

I wanted to share some of these new finds as some of them really blow my mind!  Like the lipstick for example.  This is...well... let me set the stage.  In deciding which spring collection I loved  the most, I was blown away by Chanel's spring colors, especially the lipstick.  The gorgeous hybrid of coral and pink nearly knocked me out of my seat!  I tried, in vain, to purchase it online, but, sadly, it was sold out, but I never forgot that gorgeous color.  I eventually ended up admiring Lancome's French Ballerine Collection.  Though this particular lipstick  was not part of the new spring line, I found a fabulous dupe.  It is Rouge In Love 383N.  The color is perfection and the formula glides on like a dream.

Lancome Gloss In Love #200, looks like glistening white snow flakes in a tube.  On the skin, it is opalescent, multicolored shimmer.  Glosses like this I am sure can be worn alone, but to me, they were made to glam up existing lipsticks and glosses.  Can you imagine how gorgeous that could look in the spring and summer sunlight?
That awesome pop of pink in a jar that you see belongs to Lancome Color Design Infinite Eye Shadow in Always Fuchsia.  I love the formula.  It is greatly pigmented for a cream shadow.  Their color selection is amazing!  I chose this shade as it would work nicely with the shadow palette.  Speaking of which, Lancome Color Design Palette in #210 Dancing Rose was an interesting purchase.  Ordinarily, I would recommend these colors for a lighter complexion.  But I decided to take these colors and really work with them.  With the use of color basing and adding other shades I own, this palette can really come to life.

Here I took Always Fuchsia in the inner corners and applied a hot pink cream base on the lids and followed up with the entire Dancing Rose Palette.  I am pleased with the results.  I look forward to making subtle changes to create a myriad of different looks with this palette.
Mally Poreless Face Defender is a transparent ...cream?  Wax?  It feels like nothing ever.  But, it works!  I apply this once in the morning to touch up and I am set for the day.  It combats shine and leaves a velvety finish.  I purchased mine on QVC.
The last two are so fun!  MAC Fluidline in It's Physical is brown, plummy, golden, sparkly.  This is not the liner when you want for boldness.  The pigmentation is there, but there is a subtly to it that is so fresh for spring and summer.  I especially love this under the eye.  I must try to do a look and show this soon.  You have to see it to believe it.  But I am most blown away by MAC Haute & Naughty Lash.  It is a double brush mascara with a great formula.  One brush I use on top lashes.  I cannot clump this mascara if I tried.  It separates to perfection.  The smaller brush I love on my lower lashes.  The dark color adds brilliant definition while the brush stretches and coats every lash.  I can even get into those tight places.  I am loving the Haute & Naughty!
Thank you again for joining me.  I have a few more finds I want to post on my You Tube channel, Color Elated, so I hope you will join me there.  Please share with me some of your newest finds.  I would love to hear about them.  As always, stay blessed and Color Elated!

Smoky Eye Video

Wishing a good day to The Color Elated!

I had made the decision months ago to get back on YouTube.  I did some previous videos for my cosmetic store, Color Elation.  I must make a confession:  I was not skilled nor prepared to do live video at that time.  So my "videos" were more like a series of photographs, like an amped up slide show.  Where I felt somewhat inadequate in doing that, I worked hard to make sure that each video I completed made me feel proud.
Now, months later, and credit card bills later, I acquired my dream camera, lighting, editing software, on and on and on to create live video.  I love the creativity of it all, but please know...I HAVE SO MUCH TO LEARN.  Where that thought is frustrating, it is also exciting.  So I want to introduce my new channel on YouTube:  Color Elated.  I hope you enjoy this video, and can rate, comment, and subscribe.  Please visit often as I love to post.
I wanted my first video to center around a favorite look.  Here is my smoky eye with my NYX Smoky Eye Palette.  Enjoy.  Stay blessed and Color Elated!

Glamour and the Grinch

Hello My Color Elated Friends!

One of the fun things (and there are many) of teaching elementary children is that every now and then, I can dress up in a fun, thematic way.  Now, teachers, God bless them, can take this to an extreme.  Miss Frizzle comes to mind.  Though she and The Magic School Bus are fictional, many a teacher can lay claim to snowman brooches, solar system ties, apple earrings...you get my drift.  I am guilty of a few jewelry items myself that I wear for certain seasons, holidays or fields of study.  But because I revel in Color Elation, you better believe my makeup drawer gets whipped out during these times too.  There is no event or holiday that cannot be punctuated by an unusual lip color and a 120 palette!
Case in point, Dr. Suess' birthday.  The entire school had the opportunity to come as a favored character or wear red, black, and white.  The playground was a sea of Cat in the Hat hats.  Having no hat to don and being a bit tired of wearing red, black, and white, I felt compelled to do something different.  I decided to pay homage to The Grinch.  Yes, he is grumpy and unappealing, but...he was a great reason to wear my newest green lip color and eye glitter!  There is a method to my cosmetic madness.

To create my look, I used (top left) Shadow Single in La-De-Da  from my shadow line Color Elation Cosmetics.  This is a delightful kiwi green that I used in the inner corners and around the tear duct.  I love the way it brightens!  MAC Mineralized Eye Shadow in Jade's Fortune is a lovely marine green with a bluish finish.  I applied this on the remainder of the mobile lid.  I took Henna, a matte cinnamon from Color Elation to use as my bridge color and with my 120 palette, I found a smoky pine green to darken the crease.  I am in love with Milani Crystal Eyes in #4, Gorgeous & Glowing.  I used my finger to apply this over Jade's Fortune.  It is a multi colored sparkle so you see sparks of green, gold, blue, and pink.  So pretty!  After finishing the eyes with mascara and liner, I lined my lips with the small black pencil and filled in with Lime Crime Carousel Gloss in Holly Gram.  The picture DOES NOT do this shade justice.  It is another glorious pine green with amazing sparkle.  My only angst is that the coverage is at times, not even. So, if you wear it, check it often as I learned taking these pics.  When it is applied and fresh, it is STUNNING!

Thanks so much for joining me today.  It was a fun look and a glamorous take on the Grinch.  Have you tried any unusual color palettes lately?  Please share them and feel free to write me for any questions.  Please visit my cosmetics store, Color Elation Cosmetics at http://www.colorelation.com.  Please  visit and "like" our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/colorelation.  Take care, and, as always, stay Color Elated!
